Since 1999, the heart of Navachetana's work has been organizing rural women into self-help groups (SHGs). In an SHG, women save together, lend to one another, learn to run meetings and keep accounts, and discover the confidence that comes from collective strength.
These groups become platforms for everything that follows — household savings, micro-enterprise, financial literacy, and a stronger voice for women in family and village decisions. Our founding mission says it plainly: to uplift the weaker sections of society, particularly women.

The Foundation invests in the next generation through child education and school programs focused on improving the quality of education available to rural children.
This portfolio is championed by our Vice President, Smt. Chandrakala N. Mali, whose focus on educational quality has shaped the Foundation's approach: a child who learns well today becomes the empowered citizen of tomorrow.
Navachetana was born from a commitment to rural development in the Haveri region. We work alongside village communities on locally-identified priorities — strengthening livelihoods, supporting community institutions, and responding to the welfare needs of disadvantaged families.
Our approach is simple: listen first, build with the community, and stay for the long term.
The Foundation's most far-reaching contribution to Haveri is Vidyashilp International School, established in 2007 on Hangal Road, Haveri. A CBSE-affiliated (No. 830741), English-medium, co-educational school from Nursery to Class 10, Vidyashilp offers a complete campus — library, science and computer labs, music rooms, sports and gymnasium facilities — along with hostel accommodation that brings quality schooling within reach of children from villages across the district.
