Navachetana Foundation (NCF) was established in 1999 in Haveri, Karnataka, by Nagendra V. Mali. A science graduate with a diploma in journalism, Mr. Mali carried an early and enduring commitment to serving disadvantaged populations. His flair for serving the poor and promoting rural development inspired him to build an organization dedicated to giving rural communities a new spirit — Navachetana.
Working closely with village communities, NCF organized rural women into self-help groups, promoted child education and school programs, and championed rural development across the Haveri region. Along the way came a powerful realization: quality education is the surest and most lasting way to lift a family out of poverty.
That conviction took concrete shape in 2007, when the Foundation established Vidyashilp International School on Hangal Road, Haveri — a CBSE-affiliated, English-medium, co-educational school serving children from Nursery to Class 10, with hostel facilities that bring quality education within reach of families across the district. Today the school stands as the Foundation's flagship institution and the living embodiment of its mission.
